Efi Karamouza lives in the community of Agia Anna in North Evia where the Folklore Museum is also located. She has hands-on experience with most exhibits and knows their history and usefulness. She loves folklore and actively participates in various events and activities of the museum. The object of her work is the digital recording, management, and presentation of the items of the Museum of Folk Art and Rural Life of Agia Anna “Dim. Settas” using digital media and tools. As part of her collaboration with the museum, she will organize educational activities for primary school students, support guided tours for museum visitors, and cultural events organized by the museum mainly during the summer months.
The Museum of Dimitris Chr. Settas of Folk Art and Rural Life, in Agia Anna Evia, has been housed since 2003 and operates in the Strafiotis mansion (formerly the town of Turku Aga). A beautifully preserved building of the area, donated by the family of Dionysios Malamos and Aggeliki Strafiotis in memory of their late daughter Krystallia. The building was restored by the Prefecture of Evia and the Ministry of Culture. It was founded by the late teacher and folklorist Dimitris Chr. Settas and the other members of the Euboean Association “the Nileus”. The items are donated by locals. It functioned at first as a mobile collection and then in a rented space, which was inaugurated on July 25, 1982. It includes a collection of traditional costumes of North Evia, textiles, photos of folkloric interest, agricultural and livestock tools, household equipment, etc. as well as a library with rich folklore material. Since 2012, the Museum has been operating with the kind sponsorship of the Mantoudi Municipality of Lake Agia Anna.
