With donations from the EIB, 23 other companies and 328 individuals, we were able to support Eastern Attica from the very first moment
All of us at Desmos, would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of you, who, -with your kind support- helped us provide relief, from the very first moment to the people of Eastern Attica.
Through the kind support of both companies and individuals we raised the amount of € 527,484.
Part of the donations covered urgent needs the first few days following the disaster and allowed us to purchase necessary equipment which was provided to residents and volunteers in the area, as well as to other NGOs that offered support to the victims (Social Grocery, Pharmacy, etc) allowing them to continue their work there
Following the relief of immediate needs, we began researching, planning and in December implementing the reconstruction of affected public spaces. Our target was to provide a suitable and pleasant place where members of the local communities could meet, spend time and increase social bonding.
The European Investment Bank (EIB), as the largest donor, through the EIB Institute, provided a grant of €271,260, to Desmos.
To date the reconstruction of two playgrounds has been completed:
1. In the Area of N.Voutza
2. In the Area of Mati
In the days to come more projects will have been completed:
1. The renovation of NAOMA which includes the refurbishment of the Basketball & Beach volleyball courts, the renovation of a playground, lighting equipment replacement as well as the installation of other urban equipment.
2. Lighting installation, shaping of the entrances, the stands and the surrounding area of the basketball court next to the refurbished playground in N.Voutza.
At the end of the whole project, a replanting project will follow in the area.
From the very beginning, Desmos cooperated with local organizations and civil society groups in order to choose the appropriate venues to be renovated.
Renowned construction companies from Greece and abroad were selected to carry out the the works and all the renovations are completely aligned with the latest European safety directives and regulations. All constructions are modern, fully functional, and environmentally friendly and the playgrounds are accessible to the disabled.
We firmly believe that the donations provided by the EIB, the companies as well as the individuals are a testament to both the significance of the project as well as DESMOS’s credibility as a transparent and efficient resource for the implementation of large scale projects.
